Roy-Hart 1 takes two from Medina in Midget ‘B’ League action
Roy-Hart 1 swept to a rain and darkness abbreviated doubleheader victory over Medina this evening by scores of 8-1 and 9-0 in Lockport Midget ‘B’ League action at Gasport.
In the opener, Roy-Hart 1 broke away from a 1-1 deadlock by exploding for seven runs with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning highlighted by run producing doubles by Sam White and winning pitcher Joe Nolan along with RBI singles by Colton Bohall and Matt Maines.
A lead off double by Austin Walker ignited the uprising which also saw two runs score on an error and one on a wild pitch.
Roy-Hart had grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Tim Maines.
Medina knotted the score in the third on a fielders choce play off the bat of Brett Riemer. A single by Hunter Sturtevant and two walks loaded the bases to set up the threat.
However, Medina ended up leaving runners stranded at second and third as Nolan notched a clutch inning ending strikeout.
Nolan allowed only the one hit and struck out six in the five inning contest.
In the second game, Roy-Hart 1 took control at the outset scoring six quick runs in the first inning and tacked in on three more in the second.
A lead off single by Colton Bohall ignited the first inning uprising which was aided by five walks.
Roy-Hart 1 improves to 7-4 with the sweep while Medina drops to 6-5. Both teams have one make-up game remaining.
Because of the number of make-up games teams have to play the start of the Midget ‘B’ playoffs has been backed up from Wednesday to Friday.
Midget ‘A’
Roy-Hart 10, Lockport 2 4
Trailing 3-2, Roy-Hart rallied with a big eight run sixth inning scoring burst to defeat host Lockport 2 10-4 this evening in a rainy Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.
Hits by John O’Brien, CJ Fitch, Brad Wilson and Cole Gregson highlighted the decisive uprising which was also aided by seven walks.
Austin Heschke and Nick Morse both had two hits on the night for Roy-Hart which regains the .500 mark at 7-7.
