Combining a strong pitching performance with timely hitting, Roy-Hart 1 bested Medina 4-1 this evening in the semifinal round of the Lockport Midget ‘B’ League playoffs.

Joe Nolan hurled a no hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the way for Roy-Hart 1 which will now face Lockport in the best two out of three championship round beginning Wednesday.

Roy-Hart 1 scored the only two runs it needed in the third inning on a two-run single by Alex Farewell. A walk and a single by Colton Bohall set up the threat. Roy-Hart 1 added one insurance run in the fifth on a sacrifice by Chase Bohall and another in the sixth on an error and a fly out.

Medina’s lone run came in the fifth inning on a fielder’s choice play, a walk and an error.

Lockport used a big first inning scoring burst to key a 7-3 win over Roy-Hart 2 in the other semifinal.

The Midget ‘A’ League semifinals are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with Lockport 2 at Medina and Lockport 1 at Lyndonville.
