Moving into title contention, Rotary handed Medina its first loss of the season by a narrow 5-3 margin in a key Orleans County Short Season Baseball League 12U Division game Tuesday evening at Butts Park.

In avenging an earlier season loss, Rotary improves to 5-2 and pulls to within a game of Medina which is now 6-1.

Lucas Powley and Bryar Dysard each pitched three innings for Rotary and each registered 6 strikeouts.

Rotary jumped out to an early 5-0 lead by scoring three times in the first inning on a home run by Kaiden Froman and twice in the second inning on a hit by Powley.

Medina did rally late scoring once in the fifth inning on a home run by Ryan Pegelow and twice in the sixth but the comeback bid fell short.

Rotary next visits Carlton and Medina hosts Sandstone at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
