Rotary/Elks, Carlton and Sandstone score opening week Midget League wins

Rotary/Elks, Carlton and Sandstone all scored victories during the opening week of the Albion Midget League season.
Rotary/Elks nipped Barre 5-4, Carlton topped Barre 8-1 and Sandstone edged Elba 2-1 in 7 innings. Rotary/Elks also played to a 5-5 tie with Elba in 7 innings.
Kayden Donnelly and Wyatt Cook both had home runs and Gavin Brocta a single and 3 RBI for Rotary/Elks in the win over Barre.
On the mound, Cook registered 10 strikeouts and Evan Coots 9.
For Barre, Brodie Furness had 9 strikeouts and Tyler Seibert 7. Furness also had 2 hits.
Cook and Coots both had home runs and 2 RBI and Stryker Sanders a triple for Rotary/Elks against Elba. Sanders also notched 13 strikeouts on the mound.
Tate Zuber had a triple and Brody Gaylord a double for Elba. Zuber also had 8 strikeouts and Josh Baldwin 5.
Carlton was led offensively by Jack Conn with 2 hits including a home run and Caden Woolston with 2 hits including a two-run double.
Trailing 1-0, Sandstone rallied to tie the game against Elba with a run in the sixth inning on a hit by Bryce Saxton.
Sandstone then plated the game winner in the seventh on a single by Aiden Kelly. A hit by Brayden LaMartina ignited the rally.
