WATERPORT – Law enforcement officials and the Monroe County medical Examiner’s Office have identified the body found Thursday at ravine by Clarks Mills Road near the Waterport Dam.

Nakia S. Bedell of Rochester, who was reported missing to the Rochester Police Department in late May, has been identified as the person found in rough terrain, Orleans County Sheriff Randy Bower said.

“The investigation is continuing with assistance from the Rochester Police Department and the New York State Police,” Bower said in a statement today. “The cause of death is unknown. Anyone with any information, please call the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office at (585) 589-5527.”

The decomposed body was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Thursday off a ravine. The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene in gathering evidence by the NYS Special Operations Response Team, and the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force.
