Rivals will visit Flyers on Thursday

Looking to maintain a share of first place, Albion/Medina will visit Maryvale at 7 p.m. Thursday in a key B1 Division football game.

Albion/Medina is currently tied for first place with McKinley at 3-0 (4-0 overall) while Maryvale is just a game off the pace at 2-1 (3-1).

McKinley will visit Williamsville South (3-1, 3-1) in another key contest at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Rivals are coming off a lopsided 68-0 win over Lew-Port while the Flyers needed a late touchdown to edge Lake Shore 27-21.

Offensively the Flyers rushing offense is led by the trio of Dominic Daly (365 yards, 1 touchdown), Cordero Staley (217 yds., 2 TD) and Connor Finnegan (202 yds., 2 TD) who has also passed for 4 TDs.

Quarterback Preston Woodworth, who has passed for 668 yards and 9 touchdowns, leads the Rivals offense. His main receiving targets have been Noah Harrison (18 receptions for 369 yards, 6 touchdowns) and Elijah Doxey (16 for 251 yds, 2 TD). Doxey also leads the Rivals in rushing with 275 yards and 7 TDs.

This will be Albion/Medina’s fourth road game in five starts and the second on a Thursday night.

The weekend’s other B1 games will have Amherst (0-4) at Lake Shore (0-4) and West Seneca East (3-1) at Lew-Port (0-3, 0-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.
