Rivalry wrestling matches to highlight upcoming high school sports week

Two big league opening rivalry wrestling matches will highlight this coming week’s area high school sports schedule.

Lyndonville will host defending champion Holley at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Genesee Region League opener.

Then on Wednesday, Medina will host Albion at 6 p.m. to open Niagara-Orleans League sports competition. The Mustangs and Purple Eagles both went 2-3 in N-O dual match action last season as undefeated (5-0) Newfane took the title.

The Medina girls basketball team will open its season at home on Monday against Pembroke. Both the Medina girls and boys varsity teams will then host Olmsted of Buffalo in a doubleheader on Thursday.

The week’s cage action will also have Kendall hosting Lyndonville on Saturday afternoon in a G-R boys contest.
