Rivalry games to highlight this week’s area soccer action

Regular season competition will wrap up this week for boys and girls soccer in both the Niagara-Orleans and Genesee Region leagues.
A pair of rivalry contests will highlight the boys competition as Medina/Lyndonville visits Albion in N-O action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Holley hosts Kendall in a G-R game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Mustangs defeated the Purple Eagles 3-1 in their earlier season meeting while Holley and Kendall battled to a 2-2 overtime tie in their first meeting.
In the G-R girls soccer Division 1 title race, defending champion Kendall (8-3) may not repeat but the Lady Eagles can certainly help decide who does claim the crown. Kendall will visit co-leader Byron-Bergen (11-1) on Tuesday while the other co-leader, Wheatland-Chili (11-1), faces Holley (2-7-1) on Thursday.
In the Niagara-Orleans League, Newfane has already locked up both the boys and girls soccer championships. In earning a second straight title the boys squad is 9-0 while the girls are 10-1.
On the gridiron, Medina/Lyndonville will host rival Albion at 7:30 p.m. Friday as the Mustangs seek a win to claim outright possession of the B East Division title. Holley will host Attica at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in a G-R contest as the Hawks look for a win to clinch a sectional playoff berth.
