Roy-Hart clinched at least a tie for the Niagara-Orleans League baseball title by defeating host Albion 4-1 this afternoon.

In earning at least a share of their first N-O title since 1953 the Rams improve to 10-2 while the Purple Eagles slip to 8-4 and two games off the pace.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Roy-Hart scored the decisive three runs in the fifth inning on a bases loaded walk, a wild pitch and an RBI single by Ben Maynard. Two walks and a single by Al Xapsos loaded the bases to set up the opportunity.

Roy-Hart hurler Cam Meadows then preserved the lead by blanking Albion over the last three innings retiring six of the final seven batters he faced.

Meadows allowed only 2 hits and struck out 4 on the day.

Roy-Hart’s other run came in the top of the first inning on a single by Andy Xapsos and a passed ball.

Albion knotted the contest with a run in the home half of the first on a double by Jason Downs and a sacrifice by Evan Pappalardo but the Purple Eagles could not cross home plate again.
