The Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Club hockey team opened the Association’s Christmas Tournament with a 6-6 tie against Wilson/Newfane on Monday evening.

RBM seemed to have the game in total control as they took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period on unassisted goals by Nick Wood (Akron) and a short- handed goal by Jason Kuchey (R-H).

Things still looked very good through the next period as Kuchey scored unassisted again and Trevor Crawford (Akron) got a goal assisted by Wood to go up 4-0.  Wilson/Newfane though managed two goals in the second to trail by two.

In the last period, RBM went up 5-2 on an unassisted goal by Dayton Ruppel (Akron).

Wilson/Newfane scored a goal and Kuchey again scored an empty- net goal to apparently seal the victory with 1:11 left in the game.

However, Wilson/Newfane managed three goals in the space of one minute and four seconds to secure the tie.

A five minute overtime followed, Despite the flurry of goals in the last period, neither team was able to score.

RBM returns to tournament action on Friday against ELPS (Eden/Lake Shore/Pionee/Springville) at 1 p.m. at Leisure Rink in West Seneca, before returning to the ice on Saturday with a league game against Buffalo at Conerstone at 7:40 p.m..
