Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced outdoor dining at restaurants will be permitted for those regions that are in Phase 2 of reopening. That includes restaurants in Orleans County, which is in the Finger Lakes Region.

Outdoor tables must be spaced six feet apart, all staff must wear face coverings and customers must also wear face coverings when not seated, the Governor’s Office said this afternoon.

Bob Duffy, president of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, also leads the Finger Lakes Region in the reopening plan. He appreciated the announcement from the governor this afternoon.

Outdoor dining was pushed into Phase 3 of the reopening, but Duffy said on Twitter this afternoon that he and others advocated for it to be in Phase 2.

“It will be greatly appreciated by our restaurants,” Duffy said.
