Red Raiders romp past Mustangs

Roaring out to a huge turnover aided 24 point half-time advantage, St. Francis went on to blitz Medina 67-27 this afternoon in the ADPRO Sports challenge at St. Mary’s, Lancaster.

Medina did stay within one, 9-8, with three minutes to go in the opening quarter after Jalin Cooper’s third layup in the early going.

However, St. Francis closed the period with a 7-0 run to regain the lead for good at 16-8.

Keeping the momentum, the Red Raiders then exploded for a turnover aided 16-0 run over the first five minutes of the second quarter to race away to a commanding 24 point, 32-8 advantage. The lead stayed at 24, 36-12, at the half.

Dorion Ivey scored 7, Owen Woyshner 5 and Bo Sireika 4 to lead the Red Raiders big second quarter surge.

St. Francis, which got scoring from 14 different players, maintained a 26 point, 47-21, advantage at the three-quarter mark.

Sireiaka, who topped the 1,000 point career scoring mark with a three in the first period, scored 9 and Ivey 7 to lead the Red Raiders balanced attack.

Cooper finished with 10 for the Mustangs as Tyler Chinn added 5, Nate Sherman 4, Alex Allis and Izaiah Rhim 3 and Brendan Luthart 2.

Now at 1-4, Medina next faces St. Paul, Ontario in the I-90 Showcase at Villa Maria College on December 29.
