RBM icers nipped in overtime
In a key league meeting on Friday night in Cattaraugus, front-running ELPS nipped the runner-up Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Club Hockey team 5-4 in overtime.
RBM took a 1-0 lead in the opening stanze on a goal by Holden Burkard (Newfane) with Barker’s Jackson Hauser and Joel Harris getting assists.
ELPS came back to tie before the end of the period and took the lead very early in the second.
Luc Wagner (Medina) brought RBM back to even assisted by Paul Lassman (Wilson).
Again in the period, Wagner scored from Jack Goehle (Newfane) to put RBM back up 2-1, but ELPS created a tie again by the end of the period.
In the Third Period, ELPS took the lead, but Sean Mettler (Roy-Hart) scored on a great pass from Hauser to even the game.
Four minutes into the OT, ELPS scored the winning goal.
RBM will be back in action on Wednesday facing City Honors/Cardinal O’Hara at the Riverside Rink at 8 p.m. before embarking on the final five games of the season, all at home.
