Former Roy-Hart wrestling Coach Dick Lang will be inducted into the Rams Wall of Fame in ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. September 24 prior to the kick-off the Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville football team’s Homecoming game.
Lang, who coached the Roy-Hart wrestling squad for over a decade, sparked a resurgence of the Rams mat program. His organization of the Roy-Hart Junior Wrestling Club was a key part of that resurgence.
His Roy-Hart wrestlers included Lou Rosselli who went on to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
Lang, who went on to coach wrestling for many years at Newfane, has received both the Niagara-Orleans’s League’s Foundation Award and has been honored with the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Lifetime Service Award to Wrestling.
He also earned the Western New York Wrestling Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year Award several times.
His dedication to and involvement in the sport also saw Lang serve as a wrestling official for over two decades.
A long time DEC Conservation Office, Lang has also served the community as a Town of Royalton Trustee and Supervisor.
