Rams top Tigers to stay in title hunt
Staying in the title chase, Roy-Hart rolled to a 56-32 victory over host Akron this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game as 10 threes spearheaded the Rams attack.
Improving to 9-2 with the victory, Roy-Hart stays two games behind undefeated (10-0) Medina which visits third place Wilson (6-4) Tuesday.
The Rams have three N-O games remaining and the Mustangs four, including the Wilson contest.
Andy Xapsos scored a game high 18 points to lead a parade of 10 Roy-Hart point getters.
Chris Anderson and Cameron Meadows both added 6, Jacob Bruning and Matt Borel 5, Justin Heschke and Paul Ragonese 4, Austin Dodge and DJ Davis 3 and Tim Moriarity 2.
Owen Hill scored 8 and Gates Abrams 6 for Akron which slips to 0-11. Derek Holtz and Austin Ladd both added 5, Lee Abrams 4 and Ryan Akin and Weylon Abrams 2 for the Tigers.
Roy-Hart jumped out to a 13-7 first quarter lead on three baskets from close range by Anderson along with a three by Xapsos and a rebound bucket by Heschke.
The Rams upped the advantage to 28-15 at the half as Xapsos, Bruning and Davis all hit threes in the second quarter and Heschke and Bruning chipped in with rebound baskets.
Xapsos had two more threes in the third period as Borel and Dodge each added one as the Rams doubled the score on the Tigers by a 44-22 margin at the three-quarter mark.
Roy-Hart next hosts Newfane and Akron entertains CSAT on Thursday.
