Rams top Raiders in N-O diamond opener

Sharp pitching highlighted Roy-Hart’s 23-3 victory over host Barker this afternoon in a season opening Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.

Charlie Bruning hurled a one hitter with 11 strikeouts over the first five innings for the Rams as Jake Bruning came on to give up just one hit and fan three over the final two frames.

Ben Schwab led the Roy-Hart attack with 4 hits and 5 RBIs.  Walker Samanka added 3 hits with 3 RBIs as Charlie Bruning had 2 hits with a home run, Jake Bruning 2 with a double and Noah Hardy 2.

Roy-Hart scored 2 quick runs in the first inning as Schwab and Al Xapsos had hits.  Schwab then added a two-run double and Jake Bruning an RBI single to kwy a three run second inning.

The Rams lead increased to 7-1 in the third inning as Samanka and Chase Bohall had hits.

The Albion at Akron contest was postponed until Tuesday.

Barker catcher Preston Harris makes a throw to first base to complete a double play for the Raiders. The Rams runner is Gavyn Boyle.
