Rams top Mustangs to grab share of N-O lead

Pulling away in the second quarter, Roy-Hart went on to defeat host Medina 56-40 this evening to move into a tie for the Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball lead at 3-1 with idle Wilson.

The loss drops defending champion Medina to 2-1 in N-O action.

Aiden Petrie scored a game high 28 points and Jamel Johnson Jr. added 18 to set the pace for Roy-Hart.

Anthony Bowman scored 20 and David Berry 7 to lead Medina.

Roy-Hart grabbed a narrow 14-11 lead at the end of the opening period as Johnson tallied 6 and Petrie 5.

The Rams then used a 15-6 scoring edge in the decisive second period to extend the lead to 29-17 at the half. Petrie netted 7 and Johnson 6 to lead that surge.

Roy-Hart maintained a 13 point, 41-28, advantage at the three-quarter mark as Petrie scored 10 in the third period.

Petrie then tallied 6, Johnson 4 and Vinny Buscarino hit a big 3 in the final stanza to keep Roy-Hart in control as the Mustangs could get no closer than 10.

Newfane 58, Barker 36
In the other N-O contest Newfane downed Barker 58-36 as Landon Braman scored 12 and Evan Myers 11.

Newfane is now 2-2 and Barker 1-4.
