Rams to host Mustangs in N-O track opener

Looking to rebound from last spring’s winless campaign, Roy-Hart will host the newly merged Medina/Lyndonville track teams in the Niagara-Orleans League opener on April 10.

The senior trio of Ben Werth, Roy Phipps and Kyle Shanahan are serving as captains for the boys squad.

Werth placed third in the 400 and Shanahan third in the 100 hurdles at last spring’s All-League meet while senior Colton Spicer was fifth in the high jump.

The other senior members of the Rams boys squad include Zachary Augustyn, David Brooks, Jon Coleman, Robert Frazier, James Henley, Hans Johnson, Alex Stoddard and Lyle Wagner.

The Rams key loss to graduation was Jarred Hinkson who won the 400 at the N-O All-League meet.

Seniors Alyssa Dodge and Melissa Zakrzewski along with junior Chelsea Herriven are serving as captains for the Roy-Hart girls squad.

Dodge placed fifth in the 400 at last year’s All-League meet while sophomore Emma Lindke was second in the 400 hurdles and sixth in the 100 hurdles.

The Lady Rams only other seniors are Bridgett Burg, Calee Coleman and Eliza Schwab.

The Lady Rams key losses to graduation include Liz Offhaus who placed second in both the shot-put and discus at the All-League meet and Paige Flynn who was second in the high jump and sixth in the 100.

April 10 – Medina/Lyndonville, 4:15 p.m.
April 22 – at Wilson, 4:15 p.m.
April 24 – at Albion, 4:15 p.m.
April 29 – Newfane ,4:15 p.m.
May 1 – at Barker, 4:15 p.m.
May 6 – Akron, 4:15 p.m.
May 14 and 15 – All-League meet at Roy-Hart, 4 p.m.
