Rams score late goal to win B2 opener

A late goal earned No. 4 Roy-Hart a narrow 2-1 win over No. 5 Portville in the quarterfinal round Section VI Class B2 boys soccer playoff game this afternoon at Gasport.

Landen Guild scored the game winner for Roy-Hart with just 2:31 remaining to snap a 1-1 tie as Braden Ricker earned the assist.

Guild also gave the Rams a 1-0 lead by scoring a penalty kick goal with 14 minutes to go in the opening half.

Portville, which had a shot rattle off the post early in the first half, tied the game with 22 minutes remaining in the second half on a goal by Braedon Carter.

Roy-Hart advances to the B2 semifinals against top seeded Lafayette on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at West Seneca East. Lafayette romped to a 12-1 win over No. 9 Eden in the quarterfinals today.
