Rams post key win over Mustangs
Purple Eagles rally past Lakemen
Rebounding from an early deficit, Roy-Hart used a five run third inning rally to key a 10-3 victory over Medina this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Gasport.
The Rams victory leaves both teams at 7-3 and two games behind front-running Albion which defeated visiting Wilson 18-8 to improve to 6-1.
In other N-O action, runner-up Akron improved to 6-2 by defeating Barker 17-4 and Newfane blanked CSAT 5-0 to regain the .500 mark at 4-4.
Medina, which had a five game winning streak snapped, built up an early 3-0 lead by scoring once in he first on an RBI single by Matt Reimer, which followed three walks, and then twice in the third on a two-run double by Riemer, which followed ingles by Josh Scroger and Jason Hellwig.
However, Roy-Hart came battling back to take the lead for good by scoring five runs in the bottom of the third highlighted by singles by Andy Xapsos and Austin Heschke and a two-run double by Justin Heschke.
The Rams built the advantage to 8-3 by scoring three times in the fifth on an RBI single by Brian Guild and a two-run double by John O’Brien.
A two-run single by Austin Hescke in the sixth capped off the Rams win.
Justin Heschke finished with a total of three hits and Austin Heschke two.
Andy Jacobs went the distance on the mound for Roy-Hart scattering five hits and striking out six. He retired the side in order in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Albion 18, Wilson 8
Rallying from a 5-0 first inning deficit, Albion battled back to roll past Wilson (0-9) 18-8 sparked by a big seven run second inning.
A two-run home run by Connor Barleben and an RBI triple by John Warne highlighted the decisive second inning uprising which rallied the Purple Eagles into a 10-5 lead. John Krieger also had a two-run single during the uprising as Trey Hart and Steven Stauss both added RBI singles.
Warne finished with three hits, two of which were triples, as Stauss, Hart and Noah Preston each added two base raps.
Newfane 5, CSAT 0
Josh Kneeland hurled a two hitter with 14 strikeouts and also banged out a pair of RBI singles to lead Newfane past CSAT 5-0.
Akron 17, Barker 4
Zach Pfentner huled a five hitter with three strikeouts and Connor Riggs banged out three hits to lead Akron past Barker 17-4.
