Rams open N-O title defense with shutout win; Purple Eagles and Mustangs score wins
Roy-Hart opened defense of its Niagara-Orleans League baseball title with a 3-0 victory over Akron this afternoon.
In the other openers Albion defeated host Barker 13-3 and Medina downed host Newfane 13-1.
Charlie Bruning hurled a one hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Rams.
Roy-Hart scored once in the second inning on a single by Tom Russo and twice in the third on a single by Walker Samanka and a wild pitch.
Albion 13, Barker 3
Liam Ward and Bryce Pritchard both had 3 hits and Thomas Furmanski, Michael DiCureia, Vincent Zona and Isaiah Callicutt 2 each to lead the Albion attack in the 13-3 win at Barker.
Trailing 1-0, Albion took the lead for good by scoring five times in the fifth inning on RBI triples by Furmanski and Ward and run producing singles by DiCureia, Addison Christ and Zona.
Pritchard, Christ andy Ryland Callicutt shared in hurling a three hitter for the Purple Eagles.
Medina 13, Newfane 1
Chris Goyette had 3 hits and AJ Seefeldt and Joe Cecchini 2 to spark the offense for Medina in the 13-1 win at Newfane.
Seefeldt’s hits included a two-run double in the first inning which helped spark the Mustangs out to a quick 3-0 lead.
Trevor Luthart picked up the win on the mound allowing 2 hits and striking out 9 over the first five innings.
Medina next visits Albion on Wednesday.

Pal-Mac defeated visiting Medina 18-1 in a non league lacrosse game today as Cayden Lilleby netted the Mustangs lone goal.
