Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Roy-Hart’s Trent Choate, who scored the game’s lone goal, splits between Medina/Lyndonville defenders Anthony Moule (3) and Alex Barry (13) during the Rams windy win over the visiting Mustangs this afternoon.

A lone early second half goal proved to be just enough to earn Roy-Hart a narrow 1-0 victory over defending champion Medina/Lyndonville in a key early season Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game this afternoon at wind swept Bruno Pacini Field in Middleport.

Trent Choate netted the lone goal for Roy-Hart seven minutes into the second half off an assist from Eli Giroux.

The Rams defense did the rest especially in the first half when the Mustangs had the wind advantage but were unable to score.

“Our defense really came up big for us,” said Roy-Hart Coach Greg Martillotta. “The wind was a big factor and our defense withstood the advantage they had with it in the first half. That was huge.”

Roy-Hart improves to 2-1 while Medina/Lyndonville slips to 0-2.
