Rams down Mustangs; Panthers top Purple Eagles in N-O basketball action

Steadily pulling away, Roy-Hart posted a 57-39 win over visiting Medina this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game.

Jamel Johnson Jr. poured in a game high 27 points to led the way for Roy-Hart which improves to 3-2 in N-O action. Rem Albee added 10, Jayden Swygert 7, Justin Terwilliger 5, Dan Aquilina and Jackson Webber 3 and Nate Beyer 2 for the Rams.

Aiden Pitts scored 14 and Roosevelt Mitchell 13 to pace Medina as Justin Pitts added 7 and Cole Callard 5.

Roy-Hart grabbed a 16-12 lead at the end of the first quarter as Albee tallied 8, including two threes, and Johnson Jr. hit a three at the buzzer.

Johnson Jr. then scored 10 in the second period to help up the Roy-Hart lead to nine, 32-23, at the half and 10 more in the third quarter to boost the Rams advantage to 16, 48-32, at the three-quarter mark.

Medina is now 0-4 in N-O action.

Newfane 74, Albion 46
Taking charge with a big third quarter scoring burst, Newfane downed visiting Albion 74-46 to improve to 4-0 in N-O competition.

Leading 38-28 at the half, Newfane broke the game open by outpointing Albion 25-10 in the third period to pull away to a 63-39 advantage.

Nate Snow scored 18 and Evan Myers 16 to pace the Panthers.

Aquil Gaffney tallied 13 and Javon Jones and Amari Jones each had 11 for Albion which is now 3-2 in N-O competition.

Akron 45, Wilson 36
Trailing 22-15 at the half, Akron rallied with a big 19-2 third quarter scoring surge to key a 45-36 win over Wilson.

Akron is now 3-1 and Wilson 1-3 in N-O action.
