Rams down Irish in fast paced contest

There was no need for a shot clock in this one as Roy-Hart bested visiting Notre Dame 57-44 as fast break action dominated in the non league contest.

Jamel Johnson Jr. took game high scoring honors for Roy-Hart with 21. Rem Albee added 12, Nate Beyer 10, Justin Terwilliger 8 and Dan Aquilina 6 for the Rams.

Ryan Fitzpatrick scored 13 to lead Notre Dame as Jordan Welker, Jaden Sherwood and Jay Antinore each chipped in with 8.

Roy-Hart grabbed a narrow 14-13 lead at the end of the first period as Johnson Jr. had 8 in the early going.

The Rams then opened up an 11 point, 30-19, lead at the half after outscoring the Irish 16-6 in the second period. Terwilliger scored 8, including a pair of threes, and Johnson Jr. and Aquilina both added 4.

Roy-Hart maintained an 11 point, 41-30, advantage at the three-quarter mark as Johnson Jr. tallied 9 in the third period.

Notre Dame could get no closer than seven in the final period as Albee scored 10, including 4 of 5 from the free throw line, and Beyer went 4 for 4 at the line to keep Roy-Hart in charge.

Notre Dame, which is now 3-1, was hurt by 11 of 28 shooting from the free throw line.

Now at 2-2, Roy-Hart next visits Cleveland Hill for a non league game on Tuesday.

Mt. Morris 68, Holley 49

Vinny Golisano scored 22 and Destin Kuyal 18 for host Holley in the Hawks non league season opening 68-49 loss to Mt. Morris this afternoon.
