Putting together a late innings rally, Barker downed Medina 11-6 in the Niagara-Orleans League baseball opener this evening at Vets Park.

Trailing 6-5, Barker regained the lead for good by scoring three times in the sixth inning on a two run triple by Cameron Fox and an RBI double by Collin Webb.

The Raiders then tacked on three big insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Dan Engert and an RBI single by Chauncey McKee.

Medina did get the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh on three walks but could not score as an infield pop out closed out the win for Barker.

Barker also got off to a quick start taking an early 4-1 lead as Fox had a two-run double in the first and Devan Mangan a two-run double in the second. Fox also had an RBI single in the fourth.

Medina did rally into a 6-5 lead by scoring three times in the third on a rash of Barker errors and once in the fifth on an RBI single by Brian Fry.

Earlier, the Mustangs scored once in the first on a single by Alex Allis and once in the second on a double by Brett Riemer.

The JV contest saw the Medina pitching duo of Rylend Callicut and Xander Payne combine for a 3 hitter and 17 strikeouts in a 2-1 loss to Barker.

Eddie Wasnock, left, started on the mound for Barker and Chris Goyette for Medina.
