Raiders score 5 wins at boys All-League meet

Contributed Photo – A dozen swimmers shared in earning first place honors at today’s annual Niagara-Orleans All-League meet at Akron. The winners included Andrew Jenks, Collin Stevener, Collin Webb and Adam Wagner from Barker; Thomas Furmanski, Matt Kovaleski, Sam Sanchez and Carlitos Sanchez from Albion; Andrew Hamelink and Thomas Schultz from Newfane and Tanner Rees and Elliot Spitzer from Roy-Hart.

Barker captured first place honors in five events at the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League boys individual swim championship meet this evening at Akron.

The Raiders quartet of Andrew Jenks, Collin Stevener, Adam Wagner and Collin Webb teamed up to win both the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:34.25 and the 400 Freestyle Relay in 3:30.67.

Webb was also an individual event double winner as he successfully defended his N-O titles in both the 50 Free (:22.69) and 100 Free (:50.07) while Jenks also captured the 100 Butterfly (:58.27).

Newfane’s Andrew Hamelink was also a double winner as he repeated as both the 200 Individual Medley (2:09.92) and 100 Breaststroke (1:01.59) champion.

The Panthers also had Thomas Schultz win the 500 Free in 5:25.74.

Roy-Hart had a pair of individual event winners as Tanner Rees captured the 200 Free (1:54.98) and Elliot Spitzer the 100 Backstroke (1:02.58).

Albion captured the meet opening 200 Medley Relay in 1:48.98 with the foursome of Thomas Furmanski, Matt Kovaleski, Sam Sanchez and Carlitos Sanchez.

Kovaleski also placed second in the 100 Butterfly, Rees in the 100 Breaststroke and Schultz in the 200 Free.

The other individual event second place finishers included Roy-Hart’s Nate Mikol in the 50 Free and 100 Free, Albion’s Harrison Brown in the 200 IM, Medina’s Daniel Heil in the 100 Backstroke and Roy-Hart’s Madigan Lang in the 500 Free.

 

The annual girls All-League meet will be held at at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Newfane.
