Raiders, Rams and Tigers score N-O diamond victories

Barker blanked CSAT 2-0 this afternoon to even its Niagara-Orleans League baseball record at 2-2.

Brad Wilson scattered four hits and struck out five to lead the way for Barker which also got three hits including a double from Doug Bachman.

An RBI single by Kyle Secore and a sacrifice fly by Alonzo St. Louis plated the runs for the Raiders.

Roy-Hart improved to 2-1 in N-O competition with a 4-1 victory over Newfane under the lights at Gasport.

Andy Xapsos threw a three hitter with nine strikeouts for Roy-Hart. He also drove in the Rams first run with single in the third inning.

Roy-Hart later scored three times in the sixth on a two-run single by Justin Heschke and an RBI single by John O’Brien. A double by Austin Heschke and a single by CJ Fitch set up the threat.

O’Brien, who had two hits on the evening, also made the defensive play of the game with a diving catch at second base for the final out in the seventh inning with the bases loaded.

Newfane, which slips to 1-2, scored once in the seventh on two singles and a pair of walks.

Front-running Akron stayed perfect at 4-0 in N-O action with a 12-1 victory at Wilson (0-4).

Akron broke the game open with a nine run third inning highlighted by two-run singles by winning pitcher Zach Pfentner and Caleb Martin.

Pfentner, who had three hits and three RBIs on the day, limited Wilson to five hits and struck out seven.

Jake Bower, Will Warner and Steve Borowczyk also each had two hits for the Tigers.
