R-H tops Medina in field hockey

Snapping a five game losing streak, Roy-Hart downed visiting Medina 3-1 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

In other N-O action front-running Barker stayed unbeaten at 9-0 with a 2-0 victory at Wilson (6-4) and runner-up Akron stayed just a game off the pace at 8-1 with a narrow 1-0 win over Newfane (3-6).

Roy-Hart grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Maddy Dent with 9:56 to go.

Medina pulled even when Michaela Cardone scored seven minutes into the second half.

However, Roy-Hart answered right back just two minutes later on a goal by Angelina Ciarfella to regain the lead for good at 2-1.

The Lady Rams then got a big insurance goal by Delaney Draper with 14 minutes remaining.

Roy-Hart is now 2-8 and Medina 0-10 in N-O action.

Barker 2, Wilson 0
Rebecca Stoloski scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Barker with seven minutes to go in the first half on a penalty corner off assists from Kelsie Engert and Renee Levy.

The Lady Raiders later got an insurance goal by Elizabeth Luckman in the second half as Erin Greenwald earned the assist.

Caitlyn Mason picked up the shutout in goal.

Akron 1, Newfane 0
Staying in the title chase, Akron made a lone second half goal by Sarah Schultz, off a long drive up the field by Cierra Janis, stand up for a narrow victory over Newfane.

Tori Triaga earned the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers.
