R-H tips Akron in key field hockey contest
Roy-Hart edged past host Akron 1-0 this afternoon to remain tied for the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey lead at 9-1 with Barker which blanked Kenmore 7-0.
RayLynn Chraston scored the lone goal for Roy-Hart in the first minute and a half off an assist from Sam Choate.
Lady Rams goalie Jamie Bower and her defensive mates made the lone tally hold up for the key win as Akron drops to 7-4.
Emily Wagner scored 3 goals and Natalie Bruning 2 to set the pace for Barker which also got goals from Lena Fazzolari and Katrina Clare. Bruning also had a pair of assists.
In the other N-O game, Wilson improved to 4-6 with a 1-0 win over rival Newfane (0-10) on a goal by Ivy Montgomery.
In a non league game, Medina blanked Sacred Heart 6-0 as Guin Schalck and Mary Flores both had 2 goals and Lacey Kenward and Micaela Erway 1 each.
