A lone first half goal proved to be just enough as Roy-Hart edged past visiting Medina 1-0 this afternoon to grab a narrow lead in the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey title race.

The victory boots Roy-Hart’s record to 7-1 and gives the Lady Rams a half game lead over 6-1 Barker.

Lexie Lovewell scored the lone goal for Roy-Hart  midway through the first half off an assist from Miah Glena. The tally came on the third of the Lady Rams six first half corner opportunities.

Roy-Hart goalie Jamie Bower then made 5 saves in the second half to preserve the narrow win.

The loss drops Medina to 4-4.

In other N-O action, Akron (5-2) blanked Newfane (0-7) 8-0 as Olivia Diebel had 5 goals, Alexis Bell 2 and Lacey Berghorn 1. Wilson (3-4) also trimmed Kenmore (1-7) 2-1 on goals by Anna Meyers and Ivy Montgomery.

Medina’s Grace Cook battles for the ball with Roy-Hart’s Miah Glena as Mary Flores moves in for the Mustangs.

Roy-Hart’s Stephanie Flowers taps the ball up field as her teammate RayLynn Chraston and Medina’s Guin Schalak follow.
