Avenging an earlier season 4-1 loss, Roy-Hart blanked Medina 2-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game at Vets Park.
All of the scoring came in the first half as Maddie Glena scored what proved to be the game winner and Ellie Todd added an insurance tally with just over a minute to go in the half.
Roy-Hart is now 3-8 in N-O action while Medina, which played without its season long scoring leader Destiny Satkowski, who is sidelined with an injury, slips to 3-6-1.
Albion 5, Wilson 1
Rebounding from an early 1-0 deficit, streaking Albion rallied to defeat host Wilson 5-1 as the Purple Eagles made it 7 straight N-O victories after an 0-3-1 start to the season.
Wilson did grab the early lead on a goal just 6 minutes in by Kayle Neumann.
However, Albion battled back to take a 3-1 lead at the half. A goal by Emily Blanchard, off an assist from Brylie Hapeman, ignited that uprising.
Blanchard then assisted on goals by Nikki Eldred and Kendall Derisley before the half ended.
Hapeman later added a pair of insurance goals in the second half, the first coming off an assist from Blanchard.
Isabella Prest made 13 saves in goal for the Purple Eagles.
“It was another great team effort,” said Albion Coach Bruce Blanchard. “Wilson came out on fire but we weathered the storm and then we took it to them.”
Albion improves to 7-3-1 in the league and 9-5-1 overall .
Wilson, which slips to 6-4 in N-O action, blanked Albion 3-0 earlier in the season, which ironically was the Purple Eagles last league loss.
