With a quintet of veterans leading the way the Roy-Hart boys swim squad is prepping to defend its Niagara-Orleans League title.

Roy-Hart, which has captured the N-O title each of the past eight years compiling a 79-0 record during that stretch, is led by senior Raymond Sack (4th in 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at last year’s All-League meet) and junior Mason Sparks (4th in 500 free, 5t in 200 free) along with sophomores Tanner Rees (2nd in 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke), Tim Maines (7h in individual medley) and Elliott Spitzer (4th in 100 backstroke, 6th in 100 free).

The Channel Cats key losses to graduation include Lyle Wagner (1st in 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke), Roy Phipps (1st in 50 and 100 free) and Nich DiNardo (1st in 200 and 500 free).

The Roy-Hart girls squad, which went 7-2 last year finishing behind undefeated (10-0) now five time defending champion Newfane, is likewise led by a quintet of All-League set place finishers. That group includes seniors Lindsay Yates (2nd in 50 and 100 freestyle events), Alivia Nocera (4th in 200 free, 5th in 500 free) and Hannah Rausch (5th in 50 free, 6th in 100 free) along with sophomores Emily DiMayo (3rd in 100 breaststroke, 4th in 500 free) and Alexandria Hill (1st in 100 butterfly, 2nd in 200 individual medley).

“We have a great turnout of new kids and overall I’m feel pretty good about what we have on both teams,” said Coach Bruce Mathews.

Roy-Hart will have four non league meets against Genesee Region League foes before beginning the N-O season on December 16 at home against Albion.
