Over the past five years the Purple Eagles Wrestling Academy in Albion has enjoyed a steady growth in participation.

Open to all area kids, the Academy, which focuses on teaching the skills and techniques of the sport, started last season with over 100 wrestlers participating including wrestlers from all of the county’s school districts.

In preparation for the rapidly approaching start of their sixth season, the Academy will hold an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at the facility which is located in the old Apollo Restaurant building on Route 31.

“Anyone interested in seeing the facility or asking questions is encouraged to stop out one of the two nights or by contacting the program directly at PurpleEagleWA@gmail.com,” said Academy Director Mike Sanders.
