The Purple Eagles Wrestling Academy is entering its 5th year as a program and their second year at the old Apollo restaurant on Route 31.

Last season the Wrestling Academy had over 90 kids originally sign up and finished the season with around 75 wrestlers.

They finished 2nd as a team in the Niagara Frontier Youth Wrestling League, had 2 Far Western Regional Champions, 6 Regional Medalists, 7 State Qualifiers, and 3 New York State Medalists.

“They are looking and expect to improve upon those successes in the upcoming season,” said Academy founder and Head Coach Mike Sanders.

On Friday October 6th and Saturday October 7th the Academy will be hosting an Open House at their practice facility. It will run from 6-8 p.m. and is open to anyone. Parents and athletes are invited to come check out the facility, ask questions, and register for the upcoming season.

For this season, the wrestling academy will offer 4 sessions to their athletes: Tiny Novice (4-6 years old), Novice (7-13 years old), Intermediate (7-13 years old), and Elite (7-13 years old).

“The programs are tailored toward the experience, commitment, and dedication the athletes want to put in for their personal goals.” said Sanders. “If you cannot make it to the Open House please reach out to the wrestling academy through phone or email” he added.
