Purple Eagles win B1 sectional opener

A quick two goal scoring burst early in the first half keyed No. 6 seed Albion to a 4-0 victory over visiting No. 11 Dunkirk this evening in the opening round of the Section VI Class B1 boys soccer playoffs.

Harrison Brown scored off an assist from Nate Scanlan and then Scanlan tallied from Kendyll Hadick to give the Purple Eagles a quick 2-0 lead before the game was 15 minutes old.

Hadick upped the Albion lead to 3-0 before halftime as Scanlan again earned the assist.

Thomas Hollenbeck scored Albion’s lone second half again off an assist from Scanlan.

Omar Peterson and Angel Colon shared in earning the shutout in goal for the Purple Eagles.

Albion next visits No. 3 Lackawanna in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

In the other Class B1 openers No. 7 City Honors defeated No. 10 Medina/Lyndonville 5-1 and No. 8 Newfane downed No. 9 Alden 3-1. Kody Leno scored the Mustangs lone goal off an assist from Nate Dillenbeck.

Class B2
In Class B2 opening round games No. 4 Wilson blanked No. 13 Burgard 3-0, No. 10 Eden shutout No. 7 Roy-Hart 3-0 and No. 9 Akron downed No. 8 DaVinci 6-1

Class D1
In a Section V Class D1 game, No. 7 Alfred-Almond nipped No. 10 Kendall 1-0 at Perry on a first half goal off a corner kick. Mason Kuhn made 13 saves in goal for Kendall.
