Purple Eagles use huge 7th inning rally to defeat Rams; Mustangs down Panthers

Trailing 8-3, Albion (6-3) exploded for 9 runs in the top of the seventh inning to hand host Roy-Hart its first Niagara-Orleans League baseball loss of the season 12-9 this afternoon.

In the other N-O contests, Medina (2-5) defeated host Newfane (0-7) 7-1 and Akron (3-4) nipped previously unbeaten Wilson (6-1) 8-7 in 8 innings.

An error, a double by Bryce Pritchard and a walk loaded the bases to ignite Albion’s decisive last inning rally.  The Purple Eagles then scored on 3 bases loaded walks, a hit batter, an error, an RBI single by JaQuess Harrison and a two-run single by Harrison Brown.

Roy-Hart did rally back in the bottom of the seventh as Al Xapsos doubled in a run but Albion quickly shutdown the comeback bid as Harrison registered 2 clutch game ending strikeouts.

Albion jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as Liam Ward had an RBI single in the first inning and Vincent Zona an RBI single in the second.

However, Roy-Hart rallied back into an 8-3 lead by scored 4 times in the third as Xapsos had a two-run single and Brandon Hess an RBI single, three times in the fourth on a two-run double by Eric Fitch and an RBI double by Austin Walker and once in the fifth on an RBI single by Hess.

Medina 7, Newfane 1
Chris Goyette pitched a 3 hitter with 7 strikeouts to lead Medina past host Newfane 7-1.

Brian Fry had 3 hits and Alex Allis and Matt Saj 2 each to pace the Mustangs at the plate.

Medina scored a quick run in the first on an RBI single by Brett Riemer and added another in the fourth on a single by Owen Frasier.

The Mustangs then broke the game open with 4 in the fifth as Saj had a two-run single and Allis and Trevor Luthart both added RBI singles.
