Purple Eagles upend Lancers

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Kory Reynolds and his Albion teammates upended visiting Elba this evening to close out the regular season.

Closing out the regular season on a high note, Albion upended visiting Elba 63-54 this evening in a non league game.

Kory Reynolds scored 17, Tommy Mattison and Lamar Chambers 14 and Chase Hall and Liam Ward 7 to lead the way for Albion which finishes the regular season at 6-14.

Henry Pflaumer’s 10 was tops for Elba, which winds up the regular season at 16-4.

Albion grabbed a 12-11 lead at the end of the first period as Mattison scored 9 in the early going.

Elba used a 18-14 second period scoring edge to take a 29-26 lead at the half but Albion countered with a 15-10 third period advantage to regain a 41-39 lead at the three-quarter mark. Six points by Mattison led that Purple Eagles surge.

The Purple Eagles then used a 22-15 fourth period scoring edge to lock up the win over the Lancers. Reynolds, who also grabbed off 20 rebounds on the evening, led that surge with 11 points as Chambers added 7.
