Purple Eagles top Rams to hold N-O lead

Maintaining sole possession of first place, Albion posted a 65-53 win over visiting Roy-Hart this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

Bailey Blanchard led Albion’s balanced attack with 15 as Deyonci Farley, Kevin Hillman and Liam Ward each had 10, Anthony Freeman 9 and Elijah Lloyd 7.

“I really like the balance in our game,” said Albion Coach Dave Kozar. ‘That balance is a big key for us.”

Tom Ragonese led the Rams with 13 as Reed Albee and Canyon Wood each added 8.

Leading by a narrow 20-19 margin at the half, Albion opened up a little breathing room at 44-38 at the three-quarter mark as Ward had 8 and Hillman 6 in the third period.

The Purple Eagles then used a 21-15 fourth quarter edge to put a lock on the victory. Blanchard scored 6 to lead that late uprising.

Albion improved to 7-0 in the league while Roy-Hart slips to 2-5.

Akron 40, Wilson 25
Jumping out to a 21-13 half-time advantage, Akron went on to defeat Wilson 40-25 in another N-O contest.

Mitchell Holtz took game high honors for Akron with 17 while Luke Bradley had 8 and Mike Miller 7 for Wilson.

Akron and Wilson are now both 3-3 in N-O action.

Girls Basketball
Notre Dame downed Holley 45-37 and Byron-Bergen bested Lyndonville 62-32 in Genesee Region League girls basketball games this evening.

Amelia McCulley scored 20 and Morgan Rhodes 13 to spark Notre Dame which used a big 18-6 fourth quarter scoring surge to rally for the win after trailing 26-17 at the half and 31-27 after three quarters.

Olivia Radford took game high honors for Holley with 25.

Julianna Amesbury scored 21 and Kelsey Fuller 19 to spark Byron-Bergen.
