Purple Eagles top Lady Rams in N-O opener

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Brylie Hapeman and Roy-Hart’s Maddie Fry battle for control of the ball during this evening’s Niagara-Orleans League opener at Gasport which was won by the visiting Purple Eagles.

A pair of late goals earned Albion a 2-0 victory over host Roy-Hart this evening to open the Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer season.

In the other openers, Akron nipped Newfane 2-1 and Wilson blanked Barker 8-0.

Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, Brylie Hapeman netted the game winner for Albion when she tallied on a breakaway with 9:24 remaining in the second half.

Lexi Wolck then added an insurance goal for the Purple Eagles when she found the net with only 1:54 remaining.

Natalie Karmazyn scored both goals for Akron, one in each half.

Skylar Munnikhuysen and Lilly O’Lay each scored two goals to led the way for Wilson.

Wilson next faces Lyndonville/Medina in a non league game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vets Park.

Albion also visits Notre Dame and Roy-Hart travels to Holley in non league contests Wednesday.
