Purple Eagles to host Steelers in key B2 game; Mustangs to visit Griffins

High scoring offenses look to clash as Albion hosts Lackawanna in a key early season B2 Division football game at 7 p.m. Friday.

Medina/Lyndonville/Barker will also be in B2 action Friday as the Mustangs visit Springville at 7:30 p.m.

In an interdivisional contest, Roy-Hart will travel to Cattaraugus/Little Valley at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Lackawanna romped to a 35-15 interdivisional victory over Class A foe Frontier in the season opener as Steeler quarterback Jeremiah Caviness set school single game passing records with 4 touchdowns and 372 yards on 21 completions.

Featuring a balanced attack, Albion likewise opened with a big 37-7 B2 victory at Olean. Quarterback Bryce Pritchard, who competed 12 of 19 passes for 222 yards, leads the Purple Eagles attack which got touchdowns from Ugene Harrison, Brilliance Johnson, Michael DiCureia and Nate Moore along with a field goal and 4 extra point kicks by Alex Rustay.

Moore’s TD came on one of his two interceptions. Matt Kovaleski, who hauled in a game high 7 passes, also had an interception as did Tyray White.

Medina/Lyndonville/Barker opened with a narrow 14-12 B2 win over Depew as quarterback Izaiah Rhim had a pair of 50 yard plus touchdown runs and Matt Hess, who previously was a two year starter on the varsity soccer team, kicked a pair of key extra points.

The Springville Griffins will be looking to rebound from a 51-8 drubbing at the hands of perennial Class C-D power Maple Grove.
