Purple Eagles surge past Tigers
Building up a big 17 point half-time advantage, Albion went on to defeat visiting Akron 60-39 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game.
The Purple Eagles opened up a 14-3 first period lead and extended the advantage to 27-10 at the half and 42-25 at the three-quarter mark.
Deyonci Farley and Bryce Pritchard both scored 5 and Liam Ward 3 in the opening period. Farley then tallied 7 and Ward and Kevin Hillman 3 each in the second.
Farley finished with a game high 23 as Pritchard had 15, Ward 11, Hillman and Demetrius Gardner 3, Shyheim Jakes and Hunter Webster 2 and Vincent Zona 1.
Derek Holtz scored 10 and Owen Hill 9 for Akron.
Albion improved to 5-4 in N-O action as Akron slips to 2-6.
Wilson 59, Barker 35
Wilson likewise built up a commanding 36-18 half-time advantage in route to posting a 59-35 victory over Barker.
Mac Musall had 22 points and 15 rebounds and Jake Miller 17 to lead the way for the Lakemen while Malik Smith was tops for the Raiders with 11.
Wilson is now 6-3 and Barker 0-8 in N-O competition.
Girls Basketball
Newfane 50, Lockport 41
Newfane used a big 19 point fourth quarter scoring urge to defeat visiting Lockport 50-41 in a non league game.
Paige Emborsky scored 20, Emily Foltz 8 and Kayleigh Daniels 6 to set the pace for Newfane which trailed 24-18 at the half and 33-31 after three quarters.

In Genesee Region League action Elba hit 11 threes in besting Lyndonville 71-26, Wheatland-Chili defeated Kendall 55-23 and Byron-Bergen downed Holley 58-41.
Maddie Muehling led Elba with 26 while Ella Lewis had 13 for Lyndonville.
