Purple Eagles surge past Lakemen
Staying in the thick of the title chase, Albion downed host Wilson 15-5 this afternoon to improve to 4-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.
Trailing 4-1, Albion rallied into the lead for good by erupting for five runs in the second inning highlighted by RBI singles by Seth Krenning and Gavin Boyce.
The Purple Eagles upped the lead to 9-5 by talling three times in the fourth frame on a groundout off the bat of Nate Gibson, a sacrifice fly by Gavin Boyce and an RBI single by Kaiden Froman. Singles by winning pitcher Drew Pritchard, Andrew Boyce and Elliott Trapiss set up the opportunity.
Albion later locked up the win with five runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Josh Schoeberlein and Andrew Boyce, two bases loaded walks and an error. Singles by Gibson and Gavin Boyce started the uprising.
Andrew Boyce, who also had an RBI single in the fifth inning, finished with 4 hits and Gavin Boyce 3.
On the mound, Pritchard allowed 6 hits and struck out 7.
Akron 5, Roy-Hart 4
A pair of runs in the sixth inning on a single by Collin Miller earned Akron a narrow 5-4 win over host Roy-Hart this evening.
The Tigers also scored once in the fourth on a home run by Vince Consiglio and twice in the fifth on a double by Anthony Consiglio.
Roy-Hart scored once in the fourth on a passed ball and three times in the sixth on a single by Evan Poeller a sacrifice by RJ Townsend and a double by John Brigham.
Akron improves to 5-2 and Roy-Hart slips to 1-4.
Attica 2, Lyndonville 1
Attica scored a run in the seventh inning as Blake Donahue doubled and came home on an error to nip Lyndonville 2-1 in a Genesee Region League game.
Lyndonville’s run came in the fourth inning on a single by Lane Woodworth.
Quincy McClinsey went the distance on the mound for the Tigers giving up 4 hits and striking out 13.
