Purple Eagles surge past Lady Rams

Taking charge with a big second quarter scoring surge, Albion went on to defeat visiting Roy-Hart 57-30 this evening to improve to 6-1 in Niagara-Orlans League girls basketball competition.
In the other N-O game, front-running (9-0) Wilson downed Akron (3-4) 43-39. The Medina at Barker game was postponed .
Trailng 16-14 after the opening period, Albion erupted with a big 20-4 second quarter scoring burst to move out to a 15 point, 34-19 half-time advantage.
Roy-Hart’s Shelby Wolf looks to put up a shot as Albion’s Tess Pettit tries for a block.
Lexi Wolck and Natalie Lathrop both scored three baskets and Brylie Hapeman hit a three to lead that decisive uprising.
Keeping the momentum, Albion went on to outpoint Roy-Hart 15-7 in the third period to open up a commanding 23 point, 49-26, advantage at the three-quarter mark.
Kirsten Struble scored 6, Wolck 4 and Honesty Little added a three to lead that Purple Eagles surge..
Wolck finished with 15, Lathrop 10, Little 9, Struble 8, Hapeman 7, Sarah Gregori 6 and Paige Derisley 2.
Shelby Wolf led Roy-Hart with 9 as Maddie Fry added 6, Rileigh McCabe 5, Lexie Lovewell and Meghan Washington 4 and Mallory Steiner 2.
Fry and McCabe both scored 5 and Wolf 4 in the opening period to key the Lady Rams to what proved to be a short lived 15-14 lead.
Wilson 43, Akron 39
Trailing 23-20 at the half, Wilson used a 16-6 third period scoring surge to key a 43-39 win over Akron. Skylar Munnikhuysen and Meg Musall both scored 4 to lead that decisive uprising.
Munnikhuysen finished with 10 and Sarah Lewis 8 with 10 rebounds.
Helena Hill scored 12 and Darion Jonathan 11 for Akron.
