Purple Eagles score diamond win over Tigers
Rebounding from an early 1-0 deficit, Albion erupted for 5 runs in the third inning to key a 16-6 victory over host Akron this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.
A three-run triple by Jacob Buzard capped off the decisive third frame which was started by a Vincent Zona double. The rally also featured a run producing fielders choice play off the bat of Addison Christ, an RBI sacrifice fly by Liam Ward and a triple by winning pitcher Bryce Pritchard.
The Purple Eagles tacked on a pair of runs in the fourth on a double by JaQuess Harrison, an RBI sacrifice fly by Ward and an RBI triple by Pritchard.
Albion later put a lock on the win by scoring 6 times in the sixth as Austin Dugan had a two-run single and three times in the seven as Nate Fearby had an RBI double.
Pritchard went 5 for 5 at the plate while Harrison, Fearby and Buzard each had 2 hits.
On the mound, Pritchard scattered 7 hits and struck out 6.
Albion improves to 5-2 in the league while Akron slips to 1-4.
