Purple Eagles romp to first victory
Erupting for two quick touchdowns in the first six minutes, Albion went on to defeat visiting Barker/Roy-Hart 46-7 in a B East Division contest this evening as the Purple Eagles snapped a season opening two game losing streak.
Tommy Mattison scored on touchdown runs of 30 and 35 yards and also had a two-point conversion carry vaulting the Purple Eagles out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first 6:01.
Albion made it 20-0 before the quarter ended as quarterback Bryce Pritchard hooked up with Lamar Chambers on a 45 yard touchdown pass.
Barker/Roy-Hart got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter on a 32 yard touchdown pass from Jacob Brunning to Eddie Wasnock and an extra point kick by Noah Rocklein.
However, Albion got that one right back as Mattison ran 16 yards for a touchdown and Pritchard added the extra point kick to make it 27-7.
The Purple Eagles upped the lead to 33-7 at the half as Pritchard connected with Nate Moore on an 18 yard touchdown pass with only three seconds to go.
Pritchard also scored himself on a 19 yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Blake Aina tallied on a 3 yard TD carry in the fourth quarter to round out the Purple Eagles scoring.
Mattison finished with a total of 229 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns and Pritchard completed 11 of 13 passes for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Defensively, Moore and Devin Cox both had interceptions and Tony Vallejo Miller a fumble recovery. Vallejo Miller also had a team leading 9 tackles while Meach Gardner added 7 and Moore and Kory Reynolds 5 each.
Albion next hosts Depew next Friday night for Homecoming.
The loss drops Barker/Roy-Hart to 0-3.
