Purple Eagles romp past Tigers
A big four touchdown first half scoring explosion sparked Albion to a 40-6 victory over visiting Akron this evening in a non league football game.
Albion jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in the first 2:11 as quarterback Bryce Pritchard hooked up with Nate Moore for a 28 yard touchdown pass and with Tommy Mattison for the two-point conversion toss. Mattison had a 16 yard run to highlight the drive.
Mattison had a total of 206 yards on the night up up his season total to 1,039.
The Purple Eagles doubled the advantage to 16-0 five minutes laster as Mattison broke loose for a 27 yard touchdown run and Pritchard added the two point conversion run.
Keeping the momentum, the Albion lead jumped to 24-0 early in the second quarter on a 12 yard touchdown run by Mattison and a two-point conversion pass from Pritchard to Moore. Mattison had a 21 yard run an Cory Reynolds caught a 12 yard pass from Pritchard to key the march.
Akron interrupted for a touchdown on a 3 yard TD run by Timothy Longwell.
However, the Purple Eagles got that one right back with interest on a 2 yard Pritchard to Meach Gardner touchdown pass and a two-point conversion run by Pritchard to make it 32-6 at the half. A 22 yard Pritchard to Reynolds pass completion an a 24 yard run by Mattison highlighted the drive.
Gardner scored Albion’s lone second half touchdown and also added the two-point conversion carry.
Albion is now 2-4 on the season and Akron 1-5.
