Purple Eagles romp past Lakemen

Pounding out 14 base hits, Albion romped to a 17-1 victory over visiting Wilson this afternoon to improve to 5-3 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.

Albion jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead by scoring four runs in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Brady Meakin, and five times in the second featuring a three-run home run by Trey Hart.

Meakin, Hart, Dominic DiCureia, Evan Pappalardo and Austin Loyd each had two hits on the day for the Purple Eagles.

On the mound, JJ Downs pitched the first four innings and Aaron Burnside the final three as then combined for a 6 hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Albion next hosts rival Medina at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Barker 3, Roy-Hart 1

Barker scored two runs in the fifth on a single by Jake Meister and a fielders choice play, and once in the sixth on a single by Brad Wilson, which followed a double by Tanner Gregiore, to edge past Roy-Hart 3-1.

Gregoire had three hits on the day.

Eddie Wasnock hurled a 3 hitter for the Raiders with 6 strikeouts.

Barker and Roy-Hart are now both 3-5 in N-O action.
