A huge five touchdown second quarter scoring barrage, three by the offense and two by the defense, highlighted Albion’s 50-8 victory over visiting Springville this evening in the B3 Division opener for both teams.

Albion took a 6-0 first quarter lead on a 6 yard touchdown run by Tyray White who also had a big 24 yard carry on the drive.

The Purple Eagles then took charge in the second quarter roaring away to a commanding 44-0 half-time advantage.

During that uprising, the Purple Eagles scored on a 3 yard run by Bril Johnson, a 35 yard interception return by Chris Shabazz, a 6 yard run by White, a 38 yard run with a fumble recovery by Kevin Hillman and a 14 yard run by quarterback Thomas Furmanski.

Runs of 16 yards by White and of 13 and 12 yards by Deyonci Farley highlighted the first drive capped off by Johnson’s short TD run which ignited the big uprising.

A 4 yard touchdown run by Johnson in the third quarter capped off the Purple Eagles big scoring evening.

White finished with 158 yards rushing and Johnson 117.

The Purple Eagles improve to 2-0 and the Griffins slip to 0-2.
