Purple Eagles romp past Eden

Scoring at least once in every quarter, Albion posted a 40-16 victory over visiting Eden this evening in an interdivisional game.

Manny Thompson scored on a 57 yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put Albion on top to stay.

The Purple Eagles upped the advantage to 21-0 at the half with a pair of second quarter touchdowns on an 8 yard pass from quarterback Kyle Smith to Des Blackmon and a 5 yard run by Trey Hart. Smith added a two point conversion pass to Hart after the first score and Dylan Moore tacked on the extra point kick after the second tally.

Smith also hooked up with Hart for a 79 yard touchdown pass and Thompson ran 44 yards for another score in the third period. Moore added another PAT kick after the long TD pass.

Tyler Rotoli rounded out the Purple Eagles scoring parade with a 24 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

“Our offensive line is doing a great job for us,” said Albion Coach Gary Parisi in citing his quintet of Moore, Mike Henshaw, Mike Laine, Clayton Stanton and Nate Trembly.

In all the Purple Eagles offensive unit rolled up more than 400 yards. Thompson finished with 177 yards rushing, Tom Mattison 84 and Rotoli 64 as Smith passed for 115 yards.

Defensively for the Purple Eagles Aaron Burnside made 15 tackles, Stanton and Trembly 9 each, Dominic DiCureia 7 and Alex Bison 6. DiCureia also had two interceptions and Bison a fumble recovery.

Albion improves to 3-1 while Eden drops to 0-4.
