Purple Eagles roll to 7th straight N-O win

Surging Albion rolled to a 58-43 victory over visiting Newfane this evening as the Purple Eagles capped off the Niagara-Orleans season with a seventh straight league victory.

The long winning streak has rebounded the Purple Eagles from a 2-3 start to the N-O campaign into a 9-3 finish.

Wesley Olles scored 17, Tyler Cody 13 and Isaiah Riley 12 to lead the Albion offense. Kyle Radder added 6, Kwame Riley and Nate Gibson 3 each and Seth Krenning and Luke Bell 2 apiece.

Kasey Wheat shared game high honors with 17, including five fourth quarter threes, and Mac Capen had 10 to set the pace for Newfane. Isaac Zachery and Camryn Stover each added 5, Miles Czekaj 4 and Camlo Flowers 2 for the Panthers.

Trailing 6-4, Albion rallied into the lead for good by closing the first period with a 12-2 run. Six players contributed baskets, including two each by Olles and Cody, for Albion during the opening period which finished with the Purple Eagles up 16-8.

The Purple Eagles then used a big 21-4 second period scoring surge to extend the advantage to 25, 37-12 at the half.

Isaiah Riley scored 8 in the second period, including a pair of threes, as Olles and Cody both had a pair of baskets and Kwame Riley a three.

Albion maintained a 29 point, 50-21, advantage at the ed of the third period.

Olles and Cody both had 4 points and Gibson a three for the Purple Eagles in the third period.

Final N-O standings: Akron 11-1, Albion 9-3, Wilson 8-4, Medina 7-5, Barker 3-9, Newfane 2-10, Roy-Hart 2-10.

Pembroke 55, Holley 42
Leading by a narrow 31-29 margin at the half, Pembroke used a 24-13 second half scoring edge to post a 55-42 win over visiting Holley in a Genesee Region League game.

Destin Kuyal scored 13 for Holley as Vinny Golisano and Chris Mosier both added 7.

In another G-R game Elba downed Lyndonville 57-45.
